PLA (Polylactic Acid) is an excellent choice for concept models due to its ease of use, office-friendly printing, and the option of breakaway supports which can be printed and removed faster than dissolvable ones. As a corn-based plastic, PLA is biodegradable under industrial processes. It also has a surprisingly high tensile strength and modulus when compared to other base polymers. However, one downside of PLA is its brittleness; if it fails, it breaks into pieces, in contrast to other polymers which may just bend.
